May 2nd The Houston Bonsai Society holds their monthly general membership meeting.
2 Cooking class titled SUSHI will be taught at Central Market (Westheimer at Weslayan), 6:30 - 9:00 pm, by Chris Nemoto. Call 713-993-9860 for more information.
5 Play event for Japanese speaking children takes place at the Sansui-kai center. Call 281-493-1542 for more information.
7 A "Journey to Japan" event, featuring snacks and a movie, takes place at the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library in Humble.
8 The Houston Japanese Language Conversation Group holds a Japanese language meeting at Kubo's Cafe at 6:30 pm. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site, and an RSVP is required.

17 A friendly conversation group (Oshaberi Kai) of the Japanese Association of Greater Houston meets at 1 pm in the new Chinatown area for lunch and conversation. Contact the Japanese Association of Greater Houston for more information.
17 JETTA, JACL, and Japan-America Society of Houston hold a young professionals networking night meeting starting at 6 pm.
19 Class Sushi & Sashimi is taught at Leisure Learning from 1:45 pm to 4:45 pm as class no. V4392C.
20 Family Day - Japan takes place at the Asian Society Texas Center, 1370 Southmore Blvd, 1 - 4 pm.
24 A "Make Your Own Kite (Koinobori)" [sic] event takes place at the Aldine Branch of the Harris Country Public Library at 4:00 pm.
May 26th Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko performs at the Tokyo GOGO3 event at the Funplex, 13700 Beechnut street, about 11:00 pm. Note that other than the RMD performance and the name "Tokyo," this event seems to have nothing to do with Japan.
